Method 1: Fixing the DLL Error by Copying the Dao360.dll Library to the Windows System Directorylink

  1. The file you are going to download is a compressed file with the '.zip' extension. You cannot directly install the '.zip' file. First, you need to extract the dynamic link library from inside it. So, double-click the file with the '.zip' extension that you downloaded and open the file.
  2. You will see the library named 'Dao360.dll' in the window that opens up. This is the library we are going to install. Click the library once with the left mouse button. By doing this you will have chosen the library.
  3. Click the 'Extract To' symbol marked in the picture. To extract the dynamic link library, it will want you to choose the desired location. Choose the 'Desktop' location and click 'OK' to extract the library to the desktop. In order to do this, you need to use the Winrar program. If you do not have this program, you can find and download it through a quick search on the Internet.
  4. Copy the 'Dao360.dll' library you extracted and paste it into the 'C:WindowsSystem32' directory.
  5. If your operating system has a 64 Bit architecture, copy the 'Dao360.dll' library and paste it also into the 'C:WindowssysWOW64' directory.
NOTE! On 64 Bit systems, the dynamic link library must be in both the 'sysWOW64' directory as well as the 'System32' directory. In other words, you must copy the 'Dao360.dll' library into both directories.
  6. In order to complete this step, you must run the Command Prompt as administrator. In order to do this, all you have to do is follow the steps below.
NOTE! We ran the Command Prompt using Windows 10. If you are using Windows 8.1, Windows 8, Windows 7, Windows Vista or Windows XP, you can use the same method to run the Command Prompt as administrator.
    1. Open the Start Menu and before clicking anywhere, type 'cmd' on your keyboard. This process will enable you to run a search through the Start Menu. We also typed in 'cmd' to bring up the Command Prompt.
    2. Right-click the 'Command Prompt' search result that comes up and click the Run as administrator' option.
  7. Paste the command below into the Command Line window that opens and hit the Enter key on your keyboard. This command will delete the Dao360.dll library's damaged registry (It will not delete the file you pasted into the System32 directory, but will delete the registry in Regedit. The file you pasted in the System32 directory will not be damaged in any way).
    %windir%System32regsvr32.exe /u Dao360.dll
  8. If you are using a Windows version that has 64 Bit architecture, after running the above command, you need to run the command below. With this command, we will clean the problematic Dao360.dll registry for 64 Bit(The cleaning process only involves the registries in Regedit. In other words, the dynamic link library you pasted into the SysWoW64 will not be damaged).
    %windir%SysWoW64regsvr32.exe /u Dao360.dll
  9. We need to make a new registry for the dynamic link library in place of the one we deleted from the Windows Registry Editor. In order to do this process, copy the command below and after pasting it in the Command Line, press Enter.
    %windir%System32regsvr32.exe /i Dao360.dll
  10. If the Windows version you use has 64 Bit architecture, after running the command above, you must run the command below. With this command, you will create a clean registry for the problematic registry of the Dao360.dll library that we deleted.
    %windir%SysWoW64regsvr32.exe /i Dao360.dll
  11. If you did all the processes correctly, the missing dll file will have been installed. You may have made some mistakes when running the Command Line processes. Generally, these errors will not prevent the Dao360.dll library from being installed. In other words, the installation will be completed, but it may give an error due to some incompatibility issues. UPDATED 1/16/20: Although Microsoft doesn't offer a direct upgrade path, it's still possible to upgrade your PC running Windows XP or Windows Vista to Windows 10. However, you'll need to perform a few extra steps to create a bootable installation media, backup your data, and perform a clean installation of Windows 10 on your system.

In this guide, you'll learn everything you need to know before upgrading to Windows 10, and the steps to perform a clean installation of the new operating system.

How to upgrade to Windows 10 without losing files and apps

Alternatively, users wanting to migrate their files, apps, and settings, can purchase a copy of Windows 7, upgrade their current installation, and then upgrade to Windows 10. However, a clean install of the OS will not only save you time and money, but also it will help users to start with a fresh installation.

Windows 10 system requirements

Before going through the upgrade process, you'll need to make sure your computer is compatible with Windows 10.

Here's the list with the minimum hardware requirements:

Windows 10 version 1903 & 1909 requirements
Processor1GHz or faster CPU or System on a Chip (SoC).
RAM
1GB for 32-bit or 2GB for 64-bit .
Hard drive space
Existing installations: 16GB for 32-bit or 20GB for 64-bit.
Clean install or new PC: 32GB or larger.
GraphicsDirectX 9 or later with WDDM 1.0 driver.
Display resolution800×600.
NetworkingWi-Fi or Ethernet adapter.

If your PC meets the minimum hardware requirements, you'll need to purchase a copy of the OS. You can find Windows 10 Home for $139, while Windows 10 Pro costs $199.99, but it includes additional features, such as the ability to join your computer to a corporate network, remote desktop, and Hyper-V.

There is not a direct upgrade path for Windows Vista (or the much older Windows XP) to Windows 10, as such you'll be doing a clean installation of the operating system, which will wipe your computer clean, deleting your files, apps, and settings to start from scratch again.

How to create a full backup on Windows XP or Vista

Before moving forward with the upgrade, you want to make a backup of your files to an external drive, and make sure you have the installation files and product key to reinstall any software after the upgrade.

You could also try to make a full backup of your system, but Windows XP or Windows Vista don't feature a 'reliable' backup tool. However, you could try a third-party software, such as Macrium Reflect. It cost a little bit of money, but if anything goes wrong, having a backup will ensure you can go back.

How to upgrade Windows XP or Vista to Windows 10

This means that you'll have to use another computer running Windows 7/8.1/10 to create the installation media, or you'll need a third-party tool such as Rufus to create a USB bootable media with the Windows 10 ISO file.
